New Toyota Warranty?
I had a friends mom of myne who had a 2001 sienna. the engine blew out on it at 99,000. Toyota covered it up to 100,000 and fixed it. anyway, when i bought my truck this weekend, they said all i got is a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. thats the bumper to bumper. is that really all the protection i get from toyota? i did not buy the extra warranty. just wondering if this is just this dealer or if its all of them? I would like to know ASAP because im taking it wednesday to get the alarm and roofrack installed there and want to seem prepared if they lied to me. (part of the contract)

Have you read your manuals yet? Like the warranty manual? I think there may be a separate drivetrain warranty that's longer than the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty mentioned by the dealer. Something like 5 years and 100K miles. If so, it only covers the drivetrain, and not a bunch of the electronics.
I haven't bought a new Toyota since 1999, and these things tend to change over time, so I'm not positive about this. I do know that Honda offers one, and Toyota usually likes to stay even with Honda on warranties.
BTW- It's never too late to purchase an extended warranty from the dealer. Those guys would love to get more of your money. Just be sure the extended warranty is from Toyota, not some fly-by-night company out of New Jersey or somewhere. If you need coverage 6 or 7 years from now, you want the warranty company to still be in business.

Talk to Shaun at this thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...tinum+warranty
He's hooked up multiple members with the extended warranty at discounted prices.

ok, i just read that. the sales manager told me that they only had a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and after that that was it. the 5 year 60,000 was just for little things, not the actual motor. i was like uhh, i don't think so pal. i will confirm that with the asshole tommorow when i get my roofrack and alarm installed there because i have the freaking warranty card in my truck... some people just piss me off!

An extended warranty on the 4th gens is "cheap insuarance." There are a lot of electronics on the 4Runner and it'd get expensive quickly if something broke. I estimate t'd take one repair under the warranty to pay for itself. Read the fine print on the warranty though because not everything is covered.
