Gears for 05+ Tacoma 4x4 4cyl

Hello everyone, I Have been a long time member of this forum but have not posted since I lost my poor truck in an auto collision...So I have recently replaced her with a new 2010 Toyota Tacoma! Its a 4x4 4cyl access cab. I would like to put on some 33's but I was wondering if it needs to be regeared for it? I remember when I had my 88 yota (in sig) I bought it and the previous owner had 33s on there but had never regeared it. It was pretty slow and ate up gas. Will I run into similar problems with the new 2010? Also ordered a OME lift kit for my truck Ive heard nothing but good reviews from it, can anyone compare the OME lift to a set of fox coilovers? You shouldn't need to re-gear until you throw on 35s or get into more slow crawling. There have been some folks over on TTORA with 4cyls that have regeared with 33s(285/70s and 255/85/16s) though.

The OME kit is a great starter, I wouldn't worry about upgrading to coilovers until the OME wears out.

Thanks yota duck! I have been reading alot about the bilstein 5100's with the stock springs, how would you compare that too the OME kit?

Poor advice.

You can deff get away without gearing it. I did for almost a year.
But you'll realize pretty quick that you have a pretty gutless truck with a gutless engine that is no fun to drive.

Go with 4.56's or 4.88's.
4.56 for a more street driven truck. 4.88's for more wheelin.
