Reading through the wealth of info, I understand that a quite a few people upgraded their suspension for whatever suits their needs. So, may be someone here can help me.

What I want to know is the length of the original 4th Generation 4Runner front coil springs. I’m just curious if it is possible to lift a 3rd generation 4Runner with coils out of the newer vehicle.

Yes, I know about the Tundra lift, but that truck is only sold in the States and it is difficult (as well as expensive) for me to get Tundra coils. On the other hand, 4Runner parts are readily available locally around here.

I've seen an 02 Tacoma use an 03 4runner front shock/coil to get approximately 3-3.5" of lift I believe. Not sure about the details but I do know that if you have a 3rd gen 4runner and plan to add the 4th gen front suspension, it will be too much lift and cause some headaches with your cv's if you have a 4wd system. The numbers I give are not exact so I can't be certain but I do believe that some have tried but most have not been happy with the result.

I'd say stick to the tundra mod or just get some ome's.

The 4-Generation front shocks are quite a bit longer and have a sort of extension at the bottom. So, too much lift is expected if the entire strut assy gets replaced.

the actual shock itself are the same size. the only difference is the extension on the bottom which will technically give you the lift you want. I suspect it'll be a bit shy long that's all.
