Will P265/70 R16 Fit 1988 Gen 1 4runner ?
My neighbor has a good deal on some P265/70 R16 wheels and tires. I measured backspacing to be 5 1/4 in.
I think they are off a Taco, but don't know what year.
I have searched, but all I find is that 15 will fit stock and larger ones will fit with lift.
Any help would be appreciated.
My gen 1 is stock.

a 265/70R16 with 3.75" backspacing should fit an 88 4Runner without rubbing (/me has that basic setup) so a 5.25" backspacing (sucks the tires even closer to the frame) shouldn't hit the body/fenders but might interfere with the frame, swaybar, etc.
How did you measure the backspacing? Backspacing is from the flange to the rim lip, as in like you laid the rim -without tire- on the ground and measured from the flange (the part that contacts the hub) to the ground.

Measurement
I measured it from the flange to the outside of the rim with a framing square and a tape measure, so I think I have the right measurement.
I don't want to buy an extra spacers, or the deal is not as good.
