Vanishing coolant

Vanishing coolant
I'll give the symptons and I hope someone can help me with what is wrong.
I have a 1994 Toyota pickup with the 22r. It has been using some coolant (50/50 antifreeze mix) for awhile. It doesn't end up in the oil or on the ground just vanishes. In the last 2 or 3 weeks when it gets up to operating temperature it stumbles and dies or looses all power unless I keep the RPMs above 2000. The coolant loss has increased to about half a gallon every 100 miles.
Anyone got any ideas what is wrong.

Ya your coolant is leaking into one or more of your cyl's and burning internally in your engine. The reason for the power loss is because you can't compress water so your truck missfires on that cyl or multiple cyl's.

I can understand the loss into the cyl but why does it only run rough after it has warmed up? It runs just fine until it comes up to operating temps. It has been using coolant for a few months the stumbling is something that just started a few weeks ago.

When the engine warms up the surfaces expand, so if you have a bad head gasket or cracked head it can be much more noticeable after the engine is warmed up.

Beat me to it!!! lol... This is my answer also... Heat expands everything... Mine ran GREAT until it reached higher temps...

Have you pulled the spark plugs? If one has cracked or broken ceramic, that's a sign of water. You could shoot some air down each spark plug hole, I bet you'll see some water splash out on one cylinder. My 88 did that, ran fine, but was blowing water out #4, never got in the oil. The gasket gave up next to the cylinder wall.

Checked your oil sir? (What colors do ya see?)
Someone ran the truck hot once upon a time....
And ya run a 22r hot for very long....
Tis a HG popper...
Sorry for your loss....

I had a 22ret that was losing antifreeze without any signs, and it turned out to be a crack in the exhaust port on # 2 . It would only happen when it was going down the road.
