Truck Dies When I Shake It!!!! Please Help!
Ok, i was at truck haven feb 28 - march 3 at the tierra del sol event, i rolled my truck!!! not to bad just a flop over on my roof, i fliped the truck back over and started it up, drove back to camp, then wheeled it for 4 hours the next day, then it started to happen. it would lose all engine power (not electrical), It runs good at idle and revs quick and free when i give it gas but as soon as there is load on the engine it dies. and when i let the truck sit and idle if you grabe the fender and shake it the motor stumbles, it will stumble if you shake the truck at all, it will act up like that for as long as its running but if you turn it off and let it sit for a minute or so (not cooling down) it will start up and run fine again for a few minutes and then start cutting out again. the longer you leave it off the longer it will run well when you start it back up. Please help, i was camped out with 4 guys and a formula toyota builder and we came up with nothing!! But we were all drinking and were a little toasty

This whole scneario sounds like a recipe for disaster.
How long was it on it's roof? Purely on the roof, or on the hood too?
Did you check all the fluids? Or hell, replace them? Pull the plugs and see if anything was in the cylinders?

Yeah definately get a timing light on that thing if your getting that power loss. Also typically problems that result from vibrations (if they are electrical anyway) are a wire that is grounding against something temporarily when its shaken. Inspect your wiring harness, look at the wires from the MAF/AFM, the TPS, MAP, et. All of those sensors are compared by the PCM so if one of them has a wire that is shorting when its under vibration it will make the whole engine stumble badly.

i traced almost all wires, replaced oil, and set the timing I also checked all sensors and pulled plugs they looked clean, i was on my hood and roof but for only 60-120 seconds i didnt roll i only fliped stright over and landed in my final resting place. This has been one of the most difficult things to track i have ever delt with, 3 of the guys i was with are machanics one is a GM tech and the other is a long time friend that is cirtified from GM, mazda, kia, subaru, and range rover, but not toyota. but the 3rd is a formula toyota builder and suggested many things being extreamly knowledgable on the 22re and all its running systems but no solution, the only things i have not replaced are the knock sensor and the fuel filter,if it were a knock sensor the motor vibration would set it off also, if its a ground it would be effected at all times, wich is not the case. i lost some lights and have yet to trace those wires but bing fused they are not a priority at this point.

sounds like your roll rubed some wire cover off the wire, and when moved at the right angle or julted enough its arching or grounding off, there are wires inside of your fenders, u may want to check there, In my truck there is a big bundle of wires that go from the computer behind the passenger kick panel to the gas tank, so maybe the wires from the computer to the motor were damaged, lots of this and that stuff.
I saw your pics of the cab after the roll, maybe the roll bent the cab floor down and screwd up some wires or pulled a ground wire lose from a connecter.
also check your fuel system maybe..

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem, except for shaking to kill it. Check pressure. Can going upside down hurt pump or pickup? Maybe junk in the tank?
Good luck.
Good luck.

What year is it?
Is there an enertia switch? (its a switch so when you get in an accident your fuel pumps don't keep on running!) If so...you might want to check that...if its got one???

Inertia
in er tia
NOUN:
1. Physics The tendency of a body to resist acceleration; the tendency of a body at rest to remain at rest or of a body in straight line motion to stay in motion in a straight line unless acted on by an outside force.
2. Resistance or disinclination to motion, action, or change: the inertia of an entrenched bureaucracy.

i know what it is, but not where or if i even have one. sorry post was kinda simple, do i have an inertia switch? if so where is it? and would it not be effected at all times? do i have to reset it? or maybe replace it? a guy told me my knock sensor has crystals in it and that somtimes under hard impact they will break and set off a signal with very little movement.

Did you check fuel pressure? 38-44psi. Changing filter won't do anything if pickup is clogged. I've had many cars that have sat a long time idle fine and them stumble when you give it gas. I pulled the tank, cleaned out rust, and then car ran good. Turning over a 20 yr old truck could easily knock rust loose. Diagnose before taking things apart. You need fuel, spark, and air for an engine to run. If your not getting codes, than it's gotta be simple.
1. fuel- verify pressure at fuel rail w/press guage
2. spark- 12v to coil? pull a plug out of head & see if sparks, check timing advance (your truck runs so this isn't likely problem)
3. air- check cyl compression, intake blocked?, exhaust smashed?

again, if im sitting still it runs fine, under throttle or not it idles great and revs free and fast. its only when i grab the fender or any other part of the truck and shake it it dies, and that includes driving over rough terrain and putting the engine under heavy load like hard throttle.
