trick hilux pickup
this is the other project truck.its based on a mk11 pick up.the engine is a straight six 4.2 ltr land cruiser lump.axles have been turned upside down.and front and rear axles have 18" of travel.

(Hope you're ready for some questions...
)
The box up front.....what's that for?
How are you going to set up the shifter? Are you going to shift in reverse order? 1st and 2nd to the rear.....3rd and 4th to the front? And, the transfer case shifting?
Why a rear mounted engine? Traction, I guess?
How is it going to stay cool enough with the radiator in the rear? Why not set it up front with some extended hard plumbing and electric fan?
How long has this project been in the works? (That's alot of fabricating!)
And, I think you're going to need bigger tires.....hehehe

right the alloy box mounted up front is the fuel tank.the shifter will be as you said just gonna take a bit of getting use to.as you said rear mounted engine for traction,the plan is to build a cowling over the rear of the truck.with air ducts to cool the rad,plus some big electric fans too.this project was started in november last year.as for the tyres well lets wait and see.it was intitially constructed for off road racing.

I'm guessing, also, this will be a full-time 4x4. Otherwise, you'd have a part time FWD, eh?

Right.....lol...I hadn't though of that. A vehicle for a variety of terrains and conditions!....
The power steering....I was just wondering if would take a monstrous pump to move the fluid that far.....and, if you were going with long, soft hoses and/or some piping, as well.

yea im sure theres gonna be a few bugs to sort out,hopefully no big ones.so i will have to deal with them one by one and when they occur.yea sure i will update as progress continues,if people are interested.been good chatting with ya thook.im sure this rig is propably quite tame looking at some of the rigs you guys build over there.

That is the craziest thing I have ever seen. I thought I was nuts for putting a VW engine in a Toy, but to run everything backwards..........your crazy! Very nice job though. That will be cool when its done.

d) stupid question but do you have 5 forwards speeds? I remember when I put a VW bus gear reductions on a high school project and wondered why I had 4 reverses--forgot to flop the ring gear in the transaxle..
am adding this to my subscriptions, I want to follow this thing just for the cool factor...

alot of projects for you eh? Lots of nice parts you can get over there that you cant get here. any plans on doing a quadrasteer front and rear engine project?
