OH YEAH! Welcome to the club of guys that really get it! aka HILUX operators haha
You just can't beat a hilux (aka toyota Truck) and a Turbo? even sweeter... Dont let it rev too high and you won't blow the tranny to hell (one of the reasons they stopped selling it) remeber its a truck not a sports car haha.
to serious stuff what problems are you having with the engine? Aviator

sounds like a can of beans..... with 93 grade gas it sounds better.
how hard is it to swap a 22-re and leave the turbo.... the block should be the same??
CT 26 Turbo... what exactly is that
i can get another 4runner for $500

The CT 26 is the type of turbo that Toyota used for the 4Runner (86-87), Celicas, Trucks (86-87), older Supras, and I belive the old MR2.
Here is a link with some more informaion about it:

pretty good looking ride. I did'nt think you could drag a boat over those rocks though, you must be some hard core dude hahahaha.
It sounds like all your truck needs is a good tune up by someone familiar with the turbo truck. You might also get the fuel filter and pump looked at.
cheers Aviator.

Nice score, especially since you can get another runner for cheap. I just bought a Hilux awhile back, and I found a Runner in a pasture. I've tried calling the guy but he seems to never be home, so I'm going to his house tomorrow and hopefully I be the owner of a 4Runner by late afternoon.

Wrong, CT20's were used in toyota trucks, gas and diesel (tho diesel are not interchangeable with gassers)
ct26's were used in MKIII supra's... and are a much better turbo.
