Timing chain too short

Timing chain too short
Ok, I am doing a motor swap in a 1986 Toy 4x4. The motor I am putting in is out of Celica and I just found that the new timing chain is to short. I measured the height of the heads and the Celica head is 1/8 inch taller. Any ideas????

You are trying to swap in the wrong motor, is your first problem.
84-older engines were different than 85-newer.
If you are hell bent on using a lower HP engine, then make sure you get the correct timing chain/gear set for the 84-older engine.

Yeah I am tired of messing with it. I am ordering a new motor Monday and list this one for sell. There is nothing wrong with it, but I don't want the headache of messing with it when I can get the right one and go.

???? all you need is the correct timing chain why is that so hard? What year is the celica and where did you get the timing chain that isn't the correct one. I'll never understand some people who give up so easily on something so easy.

I thought using something I already had was taking the easy way out instead of doing what was right and putting in it what belongs, but that's just me, sorry. And yeah I could still use this motor but I would rather have it as original as possible. I just wished I had followed my instincts and ordered the motor sooner. Oh well, no harm done, just something else to deal with.

Well I should be able to pick up my new (rebuilt) motor next friday and am pretty excited about that. So if anybody has a use for this tall 22re, just let me know.
