Time for a clutch....
What type of clutch do I really need? There is a ton of options out there, and I don't want to get way more clutch than I need, but don't want to end up with a weak one either.
The truck is a 89 (built 9/88, this has caused some problems in getting parts before.) and is a DD with some off road and minor hauling included time to time. It has a 22RE with a NWO header, 2.5" exhaust, and a cold air planed in the near future.
I have done some looking, and for my year there seams to be a few different choices for diameter (even different choices for the 88 year). Is this the bigger size clutches a upgrade, or do I need to know what I have in there before I order?

some people say go toyota OEM, they last 200K but there also some $$ marlin crawler clutches are a good upgrade, for minor hauling/ offroading, and they last longer than a centerforce will, they have a few different choices but i think the most popular is the 1500lb, but i got a advance cheapy for myself, works just fine, 80 bucks and they had it in stock, but i might upgrade to a new motor....possibly.........in the future lol

Go to Marlin Crawler, he offers several choices when choosing a clutch, you can get a stock replacement or a heavy duty clutch if you do a lot of rock crawling.

Marlin has 15% off there clutches too. I dont knwo if its still goin but it was the other day i was on the site.

FYI: Stock clutch and HD clutch don't "feel" the same.
Stock clutch is nice and easy to push in the pedal to engage the clutch and you can "slip" the clutch and burn it if needed.
HD clutch is significantly harder to push in the pedal to engage the clutch and you don't slip it, it is either engaged or not.
If you have knee problems like I do, the HD clutch becomes burdensome in traffic.
I have an OEM clutch in one 85 ext cab and the HD clutch in a 84 ext cab. If I drive the 84 with the HD clutch and then the 85 with the stock clutch, the 85 clutch feels like it isn't there when I first push in the pedal.
Big difference in feel IMO but nothing you don't get used to. I prefer the stock clutch myself.

Here's what a cheapy clutch does after 10,000 miles as a DD, weekend wheeler. I'd go with a marlin HD clutch, it's what I replaced mine with and no complaints so far.

I'm coming due for a clutch on my '87 22re. What about the diameter of clutch? The application look up shows a larger size for the later '90'ish 22re motors. Are the clutch kits interchangeable. I'll probably go with stock, but if I can install a larger diameter stock clutch I'd like to look into it.
