Yea...I'm one of those non-seafoam people

Good news, adjusting the TPS to the high end of the range, about 750ohms fixed the issue just fine. It was actually pretty gummed up, not snapping back like it should.

And yea, my dashpot is pretty dead too which will probably help out a fair bit, but thats a task for another day. THanks for the help everyone

welcome! a little more fine tuning and you should be golden.
(I'm not a big seafoam fan either- through the tank is one thing, a bit to flush the crankcase before an oil change is another, but sucking it in the intake?)

I seafoamed my truck today. 1/2 can into the brake booster line, then a can in the gas. My injectors were starting to stick pretty bad (cheap mans cruise control?)....

As much as I like you Jay, I'd rather spray solvent in through the throttle body, let it soak a moment, then start the truck letting it suck the residue in, as opposed to having the solvent sucked right through... hoping it will bring some gunk along with it.

Dashpot/TPS

Abe,

I never meant just to aimlessly set the TPS, simply set it to the higher end of the ohm range, give a little more "ummpph" and better pedal, at least in my truck. Also, the dashpot does do more with emissions than I had said, but mine was jerking terribly at one point, it really was as if you hit a nitrous button then let off both that and the accelerator at the same time when you let off the pedal; so, in this instance, it slowed the closing of the TB and allowed the truck to ease out instead of dropping.

I'm having a new problem now though. When I reset the AFM/TPS/adjusted the dashpot, I could tell a huge difference instantly. Now though, it will start just fine on initial startup, especially in cold weather. However, if I let it sit for even 5 minutes then come back, it will start, then be very sluggish through 1st and 2nd, but when I hit 3rd it goes away then will run fine through all gears after that, 1-5, almost like it needed to drop a load then it could run fine, like this guy-

Ideas? Anyone?

I let the truck sit as soon as the engine was loaded with it

Instant improvement. Quicker throttle response and no more sticky injecters! I love this stuff Too bad its like 11 bucks a can up here

Hmmm

Is it bogging down? The more gas you give the worse it gets? Somehow in resetting it you may be too rich and flooding the combustion. You could try leaning it out with the TPS, but i would only consider that a bandaid.

Mine does it too (4cyl, 5spd). I think its normal. Could be a worn out dashpot though. I just ate Thanksgiving turkey dinner, so I'm not about to explain dashpot, google it.
Matt16, how did you get your Thanksgiving turkey in October? Is it because the damn department stores have the Christmas decor out already and you figured, "why not?"

By the way, my '88 jerks bad, and my '94 2wd did it too. I think it's pretty common for the 22RE with a 5 speed. I will try some of what I've learned on this thread.

I was wondering the same thing... but those canadians... you never know.

and a perceived jerk during throttle transitions could be engine mounts, trans mount, slop in the driveline... lots of things.

Oh I get it now! Thanksgiving was like an international tour. Stopped in Canada in October, hit the New England colonies in November, short break in Vegas to see a Wayne Newton show and a little slot action, then off to Mexico on the way to South America.

BTW - I checked my drive line by twisting back and forth by hand. How much play is too much?
