supra LSD into the 4runner
#21
I put a 7.5" Celica Supra LSD in the front of my 4runner and like it a lot. Here's the breakdown of what I found taking it apart: click me.
BTW, there's a thread for 7.5" LSD rebuild kits here which include the steel driven plates which are splined to the side gear (mine were only splined to the diff): https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f37/...d-kits-177078/ Here are mine
the bottom 2 on the left are what you want to give it more bite
There's also full rebuild instructions here (for the upgrade kit, but it's still useful info): http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=31135

I wouldn't keep the Hub unlocked with an LSD. I would only do this in snow and ice with a Lockright(or similar) or a Welded diff in the front.

It behaves perfectly fine in snow and ice - no loss of steering or sideways slides unless I get stupid with the skinny pedal (all bets would be off with any diff then anyways). It was thoroughly tested last winter throughout southwest Colorado and Utah. The e-locker was useless on ice (no surprise there) and would just send the rear end sliding in whatever direction gravity wanted to take it, which usually happened to be the side of the road. Honestly, I don't notice any bad side effects at all with it.
