lol yeah. his brace has a very appealing look to it. I'm trying to see if he'll make me a plated rear bumper for my 4runner, but I dont wanna ask him until i have a few hundred bucks to blow. I still have my lame sheet metal stock bumper that gets a dent everytime i go offroad :/

I'm pretty sure I never sent an email with a definitive no in regards to the frame brace working with a diff drop. If I did I'm sorry for that, it was in error.

The mounting holes are not predrilled and there is already clearance between the differential and cutout on the brace as it is. You have the option to mount the brace lower if you want to.

I have not tried this with a diff drop yet and if you chose to try it out and found it did not work for you I'd be glad to provide a full refund including shipping.

Frank it wasn't sent by you but by Steve at sonoran steel. I just checked it and i quote "Aaron-

Yes they will conflict and you will have a conflict with a Bid Built Skid as well. If properly built the 86-95 trucks do not need a diff drop.

Steve"

I just double checked this wasn't from you but sonoran steel my apologies for the confusion.

I also double checked the designs and both are very similar but with some fabbing and minor modifications i think they might play with a diff drop.

Just curious but do you know much more clearance you need for the brace to clear the diff drop? I don't have a diff drop on my truck so it's hard to gauge.

One concern would be that the brace would now be lower than the forward cross member and catch on rocks etc... that it normally would not. If one was to use the brace with the diff drop I would strongly encourage a skid plate between the forward crossmember and the brace. I designed the SDORI brace with the idea that brace would be level with the forward crossmember.

The SDORI and Sonoran designs are different so I can't say for sure if what will or won't work on one applies to the other.

I think I agree with Steve regarding the necessity of the diff drop. I think if you stay within 1.5" of stock height you don't need one. If you go higher then it can be a good idea.

That was my concern as well and the reason i contacted sonoran steel about it. Sorry again for the confusion. I went with the downey brace for the price but considered the sdori and sonoran units as well and after the install found there is only about 1/4" of clearance between the downey brace and the front diff. The diff drop kit is 1" so as a result they wouldn't play without modification. My only other concern was if modified would the brace still serve it's purpose. Wich ever brace you choose downey, sdori, sonoran, would the structural integrity be compromised if modified to fit a diff drop?

It looks like it should work from the pictures. My brace has a large flat surface for attaching skid plates. You might need to drill some holes in the Budbuilt plate.

TRDParts4U does not carry our brace. We are the only ones that carry it at the moment.
