in rpm no power?

i have an 88 pickup with brand new 22re engine. has a comp cam and fully ported head. the engine runs great and pulls hard until about 3500 then just stops making power. it can pull itself around but barely.

Timing probably needs to be adjusted. Valves probably need to be adjusted for a steeper cam. Exhaust may be partially clogged.

What type of cam did you get? One for lower or higher end power?

Sounds like you're off a tooth or two on the timing chain.
