Does the H4 conversion work on a 1st gen also? Who sells it?

There is a pretty cheap H4 conversion on Ebay, search for Autopal. I have a set of these in my MR2, and love them. The beam pattern isn't as soild as Hella housings, but deffinately worth it for the price.

I got the IPF replacments (EC code, not DOT) and they still throw plenty of spill light up to see signs, etc. The IPF and Hella have similar low beams(better than stock sealed beams), but the IPF hibeams are wider, which I like, as compared to the Hella hibeams which(on a different vehicle) I found to be too narrow and "laser-like"...Hella is probably better for high-speed highway driving, though.
For a harness to handle higher than stock wattages, I suggest the custom made ones from Rallylights.com...they cost more, but are seemingly more "overbuilt", heavier-duty than the 4crawler ones...and, can be made custom lengths to accomodate where YOU want to place the components in the engine bay. Just my 2p.
