Does anyone know have one or know how to identify a cruise control system? I just bought this truck and the nipple on the actuator that the cable extends from is broken off. I was thinking I would just have to remove it, but now I think more about it I was wondering if I might be able to fix it. I've never seen an aftermarket system before, and this one so closely reflects the OEM cruise control stick on the steering column) and when I took it apart to remove it, it actually looks like the steering column plastic was OEM cruise ready. The drilled hole looks factory.
It is so old that I;m not able to identify any brand name. It appears to be completely electronically controlled (no vacuum). There is the actuator under the hood, a nicely assembled cable of wires into the cabin, an electronic servo module, and the control stick (arm on the steering column).
Might be Rostra brand. They are one of the few aftermarketers who makes electric servo cruise.
Thanks for the lead. I searched that out, and ended up finding some other sites talking about two other brands that existed circa 1990. Looks like people were putting these into their Toyota motorhomes. Dana and SCS. I think, according to the images and the sticker I had on it, it is a Dana brand. Looks like it was also used on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Interesting...I'll keep researching.

Give us a link or two wilya. I've had a couple Dana cruises, but I've never seen one with electric servo.
What ever that is, its exactly what I have in my 1989 Gen1 4Runner (which I bought new in 1989)
I installed a vac one; and removed the control board and remote mounted the controls in the cab.

Interesting that you have the same one!! There are no "junkers" anywhere. I can't find new seals at the dealer sometimes, let alone find used parts somewhere.
According you to your paper work, looks like SCS. Can you send me a pic of your actuator (under the hood)? Is it the "exact" same unit?!! If so, I can probably chase the cable I want via the part number on your paperwork.
The image on the left is from a Harley Davidson fitted with the same CC system. The image on the right is the install in the Toyota Motorhome. I think mine is exactly the same, but I need to photograph the opposite side (mine is installed upside down compared with this image).

Cool that there is a part number showing! Does that say "Specific Cruise Systems"? I googled that and it appears that this company may be owned by Frigette now. I had looked at them before, trying to track down an existing company that is still making parts. I'll try to track down that part number via Frigette. Looks like JC Whitney sells their stuff and might be able to help. I can't find any info on the actual SCS Frigette company.
