Mysterious Black Box
This is probably the second thread I've started, but I haven't found anything on this. Maybe it's just so simple that no one else has had to ask. Does anyone know what this Box is? It's located near the passenger side fender/firewall, and it has a toggle switch on it covered by a yellowish rubber cover. It's only on the auto 3.0, not on my manual. There's a twisted pair of wires that runs down the fender, but I can't see exactly what it is. I'm not brave enough to just flip the switch...
Thanks for your help!

judging by the bolt and the ground lead I would say its not factory.....maybe a shock sensor for an alarm. I have never seen one like that though. Where do the wires go to? that should tell you.

Um, well the garage door isn't moving when I flip it. Maybe it will give me like 100 extra horsepower! That would be awesome!
Can't really tell where the wires go... They kinda disappear under the engine. Alarm sounds kinda promising as there's another wire that goes toward the headlight/washer reservoir area. I'll research more and get back.
The self-destruction switch comment worries me. If my truck dies after I switch it, I'm coming after you...

Well, I'm still alive, and so is the 4Runner. This is awesome! It's definitely a kill switch/theft deterrent. Down or "off" the truck won't start- Up or "on" it will!
The wires must go down to the starter, and the switch kills the power. You turn the key with it "off" and all you hear is what I assume to be the fuel going through the injectors. No "click" at all.
Thanks for making be brave enough to switch it.
