what would be a good set of lockers to put in my 88 toy

I am going the "affordable" route and putting richmond lock-rights in the 4.88 3rd members I'm installing since I have manual front hubs. $500 for both.

ARB's front and rear, selectable is the way to go.

I did a favourable review of an Aussie locker a while ago, the link is in my signature line below and that might help you out.

The way I see it, a rear auto locker is alright providing you are willing to change some of your driving habits. The front depends on where you are and if you plan to use 4wd on the road. If so, then a selectable or a limited slip is best up front. If you only use 4wd off road, then an autolocker will be fine up front, but steering will be heavier.

If you gave us more details, then we'd be able to help you out more. What do you drive exactly, and what conditions do you encounter where you get stuck?

UNless you are convinced you need dual lockers, try going for a rear locker first, it is amazing what it will do in 2wd locked.

i would reccomend the lockright, for the rear at least, people say it makes it too hard to turn with a full locker up front, unless you have a selectable.

i have in both my 4runner an arb in the front and a detroit locker in the rear or if yoour on a budget then maybe lockrights both front and rear

If you can possibly afford it: ARB's. Simply the best.

Dual lockrights will work well on a budget. A combo will work well if you are in between.

No matter what you do, you'll be pleased with the off road performance.

On road, the ARB's are transparent, the autos are there but liveable, and welded just sucks.

I forgot I posted in this thread. Anyway I now run lock-rights and 4.88's in the front and rear now. In the mud and general trail riding the front lock-right is great. No steering issues really. I can't say how the steering would be in higher traction situations like rock crawling but I think you'd do a lot of getting in and out to unlock/lock hubs if you had to do driving on flat twisty sections where 4 wheel wasn't as important as maneuverability.

I've got a front lockright installed. Its awesome while 4wheeling most of the time but I have had to make huge changes to my driving style- its worth it.

I depends on what kind of driving you intend to do. Is it a daily driver and what kind of trailing do you intend to use it for?
