Keyless entry opening back window?

Has anyone ever hooked this up successfully? I'd like to have my keyless entry remote open the rear window when I press the open trunk button.

Is this something that is possible, and if so, has anyone done it? What would it require? Any tips?

Thanks!

Keyless Entry For 4runner Tail Gate

Not quite as sophisticated as remote lowering, I have a word document that tells you how to wire a rocker switch into the rear tailgate so that you can use keyless entry when the drivers door is unlocked.

The circuit diagram is simple but good, and given to an auto electrician he could modify it to work off a remote if need be.

PM me with your email address (Just title your PM with KEYLESS ENTRY, and add an email address) if anyone is interested & I'll forward it on.
Works perfectly in its base form, my only advice is use a good dust/weatherproof rocker switch - I use a Marine rocker switch under a rubber cap and it works a treat - can't even tell its a switch !

Cheers

Certainly it's possible, the 3rd gen 4Runners do this from the factory (bottom button on remote). If all else fails, look at a wiring schematic for a 3rd gen 4Runner, pull the electrical guts from one in a wrecking yard and give it a shot.

my aftermarket alarm (clifford 700-iq) does this.... when i hit the trunk remote button, it opens the back window.... also when i lock/arm the alarm, it automatically closes the window, if it was open....

this is a 'must have' option, esp for the 2nd gen, as the rear hatch door release is inside and only accessible when the window is open.... unlike the 3rd gen, they can open the rear hatch regardless of the rear window open or not....

What is the part that I would need? I've tested the wire that is supposed to go to the trunk release with a multimeter, and I've realized that it closes the circuit, but only for a short time- enough to run the release mechanism. I've also found the wires going into the back relay which control the window up/down function from the back door (the one that works whether the key is in the ignition or not).

What I need to know is how to jump from a short pulse out of the alarm box into a longer one, telling the window to go all the way down.

I tried hooking it in directly, and all it did was little spurts-- I'd have to press it like 20 times to get it all the way down.

Yeup... A few of us here run the Commando 870.

This is old thread talking about a special purchase, but it has links to other threads on the 870:

You need the DEI 529T (1 window) or 530T (2 windows) window controller. (See Ebay) I have one installed on the rear window of my 88 and I also have the 530T installed on the front windows. This will give you one touch operation, remote up/down and vent capabilities. It's fairly straightforward to install as long as you understand the basic theory of operation.
