I want to turbo my 22re
I was talking with a friend, I told him I have a 86 4runner with the 22re engine. he told me that he has a turbo and manifold for the 22re. I have my engine out right now, I am resealing it and I thought this would be a great time to turbo charge it. what do you guys think and recomend? the engine (i was told) has 30K miles, and I would like to get 150+ HP out of it. I was thinking keeping stock compression and running low boost.

There are numerious thread on this subject. You will get a better idea of whats involved reading those than asking this question again.
It's not as simple as it seams...especially 150hp.

I think the general consensus is that you will end up paying big $$$ for marginal gains with the turbo .
And that it is easier to swap in a 3.4 than mess with a finnicky 22rte.

There's more to it than slapping on the manny and turbo. You'd be limited to about 4-6 psi, and that's after adjusting timing a bit and richening your afm, plus you'll want bigger injectors. Then you wanna think about heat, oil cooler, upgraded radiator, intercooler
There's ppl who have done it, and run about 4 psi and it adds some pep. But if he's offering the stock equipment, ct20 and 22rte manifold, it'll hardly be worth it, cuz you'll need to make an oil to, and return for turbo , as well as water in and out. The ct20 sucks... And honestly I wouldn't mess with doin a turbo 22re unless your ready to drop a lot of money and still only be content with power output.
Stock 22rte is pretty peppy, and has enough power to do whatcha want, but it can still definitely be upgraded.
If your serious and ready to drop money on a t3 and t3 manifold and such. Let me know and I'll give you pointers. But if not, maybe a swap is in order

Just do it. Get a thick head gasket and play with it til it's good. If you wanna do it just figure it out. That's the fun of working on vehicles. Toyota's tend to run a tad rich anyway so 4-6 psi shouldn't be a problem at all with lowered compression.
