Are the hub bodies the same for the automatic hubs as the manual hubs, or do I need to switch the bodies as well as the internal parts?

I'm putting the stock Aisin manual hubs from an 87 on an 86 that currently has automatic hubs...

I'm pretty sure they're different. I had auto hubs on my '88, then went to manual Warn hubs. The diameter is the same, but the body and obviously the guts are different.

Thanks. That makes sense that the Warn hub bodies are different, since they're manufactured by a different company.

I think that the automatic hubs were manufactured by Aisin, though, so I'm hoping the stock Toyota manual and automatic hub bodies are the same?

To clarify WabbyFabbys post.....the hub bodys are NOT the same. Easist thing to see right off the bat, is they are taller (aka deeper). You have to completely swap out the hub body, outer piece, AND get new Nuts/Lock washers/thrust washers. Very easy to do, I just did this swap on my 89 4Runner. About 1/2 hour per side including cleaning and repacking the outer bearing (not necessary, but recommended)

And buy the 54mm socket....don't use a chisel.

Pulled the hubs today - thanks!! And didn't need the socket or a chisel - the nuts came off w/ needle nose vice grips.
