HELP...New engine running crappy
Hey I just put in a new 22RE engine in my truck. Adjusted everything (timing, lifters, etc) and broke it in according to the instructions for the pre-start (run 20-30min and readjust).
So I went to take it for the test dive and everything was going great until I got about .5 miles down the hill and it started running really rough (almost sounding like it was miss-firing). Turned around and headed home, recheck the timing, vacuum hoses, plugs wires and still its not working right.
I also got check engine light 22 (water temp sensor) but I wouldn't think that would cause it to run crappy like that would it?
Any ideas? I am stumped...

if the water temp sensor is not covered by water and/or faulty, it will affect how the engine runs. I bet you have an air bubble in the coolant system.

yes it definitely can. the connector on mine broke off and it started to run like total garbage until i got home and realized it was broken. got a new one and problem solved

lifters?.....lifters?oh well, did distributor loosen up?timing checked with ecm jumper?checked valve lash?could be a coolant bubble, but that would go away after adding coolant. But Im no xpert...

More help please :)
Alright...After investigating after work I found that the green sensor had a broken wire. I fixed it and the light went off.
NEW PROBLEM
It is still running like crap There is no check engine light and it still runs rough like it is missing. My Dad and I took off one of the fuel injector plug and started it up and it ran the same (WTF), then put that back on and took off the second one and still ran the same (rough).
I am about ready to just take the damn thing down to Yota and have them do the pocket draining test $$$ lol.
I am super stumped...Any ideas?

Start with the basics, is every cylinder getting spark/fuel. check and double check all connections, cuz as you found out with the temp sensor; a bad connection is not always easy to spot. Also i was wandering if you got a crate motor or rebuild. I only ask becouse a friend of mine had the same problem with his heep after a fresh rebuild and the problem ended up being that the machine shope did not clean out the fine metal dust left inside the head after machining. We found this problem very easily by draining the engine oil and running a magnet threw it.

.You need a vac gauge from harbor freight,or any tool store, hooked up to a manifold vacuum source.Kind of looks like a vac leak, but the way its shuttering and dying Im not sure. You really need to recheck your vac line routing. The wrong line plugged into the wrong spot is what I am thinking, but the vac gauge will show you whats going on inside engine.

you sure the distributor isnt off by a tooth?
x2 check the valve lash and in doing so make sure the chain didnt jump
have you checked the TPS adjustment? if the TPS is out it will cause strange things to happen too
