Head Gasket finally went
So after 230000 miles HG on my 3.0 finally started leaking externally, only reason i noticed cause it leaked right on top of my exhaust pipe, smell is horrible. Called my local dealership about that special service campaign and my 88 doesnt qualify. Luckily I know a guy who'll help me replace it, along with timing belt and valve cover gaskets. Aside from engnbldr anywhere else that I can get new HG and a head bolt set for a good price? Local auto parts stores over charging i think.

I like RockAuto.
Price this out carefully. Do you plan to have the heads done at a machine shop? Add up everything and add 50% for stuff you find along the way. Do you want to put in this much money?
If you love your truck, by all means replace the head gasket it get it running great again. That's what I did. But if it's just a way to get from A to B, even with all new parts you'll still have a 25-yr old truck. How much would it cost to replace it with something else?

Never thought about that, I do love my truck but im looking for a solid axle 4Runner eventually, but Im thinking about saving up for a raptor 3.0 V6 engine soon, and a blazeland lift with a chevy spring swap for my truck. It is my DD and do wanna lift it and stuff, along with a 4Runner, idk guys I got yota fever right now. Aside from my wife who says I cant have to many yotas? Thankfully my HG hasnt completely blown and im not loosing compression and oil is still clean.

fwiw, toyotaonlyswaps.com can do a 3.4 swap for $3500. Gives you the same HP and an extra 10 lbfts torque over the raptor -- and you can add a supercharger and other mods on the 3.4 for even more power. It's a fairly straight forward swap and you should be able to ship your truck to them from anywhere for less than $500.
