Yep, its a bolt in mod. Just go to a wrecking yard, get any Dualie rear axle, and bolt it in. No cutting, welding, or mods necessary.

That's a toyota dualie axle... lol You can find them under old uhauls and some motorhomes... You might need to make a few small sheet metal mods to allow for full articulation, and of course a larger fender flare to cover the wheels and make it legal...

Naw, get a full size Dodge ram axle assy, some bigger U-bolts for your leaf springs, and bolt it in.

laughing...so hard...can't stop...please...no more!

i don't want to be rude, but that was a great laugh. if you wanna dually a 4runner, do it! the picture i see in my mind doesn't quite make all the sense in the world, but if you see a need for it, do it. what would you be using this vehicle for?

If you are doing it for S and G's, just do it. Dont ask if it can be done, or how it can be done. Just do it.

that reminds me of the dually Suburbans from the 80's. If your that desprite to put a dualie under a 2nd gen 4runner just copy the old GM Suburbans.
