Dreaded oil cooler leak 3.0

I've been reading up on this issue and see that it is evidently quite a common problem, the only question I have is it better to just fix the leak and keep the cooler or ˟˟˟˟can the cooler and just add another filter? I am fairly mechanically inclined and have a very good friend that owns a full service auto mechanic shop where I do all of my work so replacing the orings isn't that big of a deal I just wondered if it would be better to keep it or eliminate it? I live in south arkansas where it's extremely humid and hot in the summer time, I don't pull much with my yota, no more than a 12 foot trailer with a rhino on it, it is a 1992 xcab 3.0 4x4 manual trans, any advice would be appreciated!

Someone with a 3.0 will likely chime in, but.

Better to have one that leaks than wish you had one at all.

I'm sure you can find somewhere to squeeze in an inline filter if you're determined enough. Back of the bumper comes to mind..

It's there for a reason, why not just fix the leak?

Well pat that was my thoughts I had just read on some other posts on here you can buy a pipe nipple and just add a 2nd filter I just wondered if anyone had any logical reasoning as to what was the best option! I know that some of the 3.0s didn't even come with an oil cooler so I didn't figure it was a necessity!

Unbolt the oil cooler, replace o-ring, bolt back on. Leak solved and no jimmy rigging involved. for reference: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-today-185107/
