Trucks have beds, a 1st gen 4Runneris a truck since all it has is a shell over the bed and does also have a cargo area in it.

according to the state of Illinois, there's Model:FOUR RUNR, and Body Style:UTILITY listed on my title. I call it MY TRUCK, my wife hates when I do that. well why should'nt I, she never drives it, and I effen paid for it.

This is a very interesting descussion...

in my family car = vehicle.

So i usualy say... " just a sec let me go move my car" or somebody might tell me... "i can't get out, your car is behind me" I never gave this a second thought, We always called our suburban a car and our deisel truck was a car too. Infact we have never even owned a "car" in the sence that you guys seem to look at it.

yes i call my 4runner a truck all the time. the term suv has been tainted by things like the H2.

my friend, who owns a ranger, corrects me all the time, pisses me off. sorry its a truck, solid rear axle, fully boxed frame, it hauls stuff (not a great as a true pickup, but good enough for me)

Question:

If your vehicle was made BEFORE the term "sport Utility vehicle" was created, is it still an SUV?

I always thought trucks had to have beds, but a good friend of mine has a bronco and i have been convinced to call it a truck. If that is true, then a runner would have to be a truck as well. They're all cars, vans, or trucks.

Truck!

I say truck, simply because it fits and everyone that I know knows that that my 4runner is more truck than their pickups.

Plenty of things were made before a name was created for it.....and they're still what they are.

its a station wagon. all my friends hate that they have to have mudflaps on their trucks but the police leave me alone, even with 35's So to the police it is a station wagon but everybody else calls it a truck, but I just think it is fun.

Actually, the 4runner is just a trail-proven version of the grocery getter you see at all the mall parking lots this time of year

I think that pretty much any "SUV" that is based ion a truck frame would be a truck. I have 4runners and a Toy PU plus a Blazer and have owned several Suburbans and they are all definately TRUCKs Merry Christmas

If it has a fiberglass shell or a metal top (2,3,4 gen) and you don't have to help your friends move, that's all the matters to me.

i call my pickup a pickup not a truck trucks have 18 wheels. but i wouldnt call a runner a SUV i guess to me SUVs a just fagmobiles that you see soccermoms rolling around in when the should me driving minivans i guess i wouldnt a call a jeep cherokee a suv either it just seems to derogatory i guess i just hate all these new low ground clearance crossover suv things. my aunt got some new subaru sation wagon looking thing and i told her it was a nice station wagon she got pissed and told me its an suv i just laughed.
my brother-in-law drives a mercury mountaineer and refers to it as a truck and it bugs the s**t out of me. buy a pickup or a mini van ya road warrior

It is:

my rig,
the big truck (to differentiate from the wifes truck-the '06 4Runner)
daddy's truck broke (my three year old)
money pit (the wife, parents, most everybody else)

I would rather own a Subaru than a SUV.
