Black Power Side Mirrors For Pickups With Wing Windows?
I am currently working on de-chroming my pickup and was wondering if Toyota ever made black mirrors for the pickups that have the side wing windows? All the mirrors ive found are either chrome or manual.
If they do exist does anyone have any for sale?

well, I don't have power mirrors, but my 95 DLx has black mirrors. My truck actually only came with 1 mirror, the other had been broken off. I went to the local toyota wrecking yard looking for one and they didn't have any, but they were able to order me a brand new one for 20 bucks. Hard to tell under the mud, but they came black stock.

Not too often I guess but id rather keep them power if possible. How different are the bodies of the mirrors? Would it be possible to swap the bodies between the two mirrors?

Nevermind I realized how much thinner the manual mirrors are than the power ones.
So is that a no on the black power mirrors? Ill probably call the dealership tomorrow and see if they know if they were ever made

you can paint them, if you prep them properly. take a wire brush to the chrome, like a BBQ cleaning brush, and scuff the heck out of 'em. then a red 3M pad, and then follow with adhesion promoter and black paint.
however, you can also cover them with 3M matte black paint replacement film. you just clean the chrome really well, then use a hair dryer to stretch fit the material over it as you stick it on. trim the edges and you're done. the stuff is great for mirrors, bumpers, etc. because it's pretty chip resistant. we used to use it to "black out" chrome bumpers on 80s VWs when i worked for them back in the day.

No stock black power mirrors... the power mirrors were part of an upgrade package and as such were chromed... and back in the day pretty much all power mirrors from all mfgs. were chromed or in the case of some sports cars body colour... the "blacked out" look in power truck mirrors is a relatively recent trend with mfgs trying for the "big rig" look on their p-up trucks/suvs.
The film idea above would probably be the best way to go black...
check your local yellow pages for places offering "auto body wrapping" you might find it under automotive or advertising... given the small amt. of wrap you'd be using it would probably be quite cheap without the risk of damaging the chrome finish on the mirrors or poor paint adhesion. If it gets chewed up by road debris you just wrap again.
