Best Head Gasket? -3.0 V6
I am about to get my 3VZ back from the machine shop, and am about to put it back together.
I am using some ARP head studs for the heads.
My question is, what is the best head gasket to use?
I know, I know, I'm
But I don't want to worry about this rig for 300k miles.
I have a set of OEM Toyota head gaskets, and a can of copper spray a gasket sealer schtuff, which was recommended to me by a Toyota Master Tech.
Should I heed his advice?
Or should I look at something else for a head gasket?

i have thoes head studs and they work very nicley and i hvae used them iover again like 4 times. as for D.O.A. racing dont get anything from them he is an absolute crook i bought ported and polioshed heads from him and they have been off 4 times now because of multiple problems they are now currently being re built because the valve werent sitting on the seats and i lost compression in 3 of my cylinders. the studs are good thank god we got them becaus it is like 150 for a new set of torque to yield toyota bolts. as for the gastgets Rock gasket makes a great gasket but i would go with the gasket that toyota sells they exactaly like the rock gasket and they are very beefy im not expecting any blowouts with these gaskets.

I didnt know that ARP made headstuds for the 3vz-e? If so where can I get them and why only torqe to 60? I see guys over on the supra forum tq'ing the living dog snot out of their studded 7mgte's and 2jzgte's...

DOA racing is about the only place to get them that Iknow of, but my machinist was telling me that he has a source for them.
DOA racing sent me an e-mail telling me how much to torque the studs to.

IIRC the studs are made for DOA by ARP, though I could very well be wrong about that.
DOA racing is about the only place to get them that Iknow of, but my machinist was telling me that he has a source for them.

60 ft/lbs
lubricating the threads with motor oil
and to step them up to the torque in 10 ft/lbs increments

hey tiger go with the toyota gaskets they have been beefed up after all the problems with the originals and are rock solid now so my advise is go with with the toyota ones

I Am going to bring them along with me when I pick up the motor and have my machinist take a look at them, and ask him if he thinks I should use these.

Well first off I wouldnt even bother giving DOA one cent of my money since they have butchered more heads than they have helped. (Search for DOA on this site, what you read will scare you.)
With this knowledge in mind it would not surprise me at all if DOA is cutting the heads off of conventional bolts, threading the other via cutting and then labelling them "ARP headstuds" for a maximal profit gain. Search for Arp Headstuds here, most notibly those coming from DOA. You will find that they were all cut threads, not rolled on like ARP does, which severly weakens the bolt. Youll also find that they stretch much much worse than the TTY headbolts from toyota, which leads me to believe that Arp has never produced head studs for the 3vze, particularly since none of the supra guys using Arp have had this issue torqing to MUCH higher ratings than 60ftlbs...
this also makes me that much more inclined to use Engine builder's Grade 10.9 EPN headbolts or to source the head studs from ARP directly which i was told is about 180 to have them come up with a set for you....
Hell I wonder what forged custom pistons and rods would run from eagle vs what DOA wants to charge....food for thought.
