With mine the gear was just stripped on the motor so if I pulled down on the window while someone pushed the button it would go down. But if you can get the gear from the motor separated from the assembly it will release the lifting arms allowing you to lower the window. You just have to get the gear of the motor moved enough to clear the teeth on the other gear.

it shouldnt matter, mine were really bad and I cleaned them up a little bit but they are still pretty rusty and the window works fine with the new motor. if you cant get the gear separated you could always try pushing enough to spin the motor gear so it goes down. Its been a couple years since ive seen the inside of my tailgate so i cant really remember how everything looks in there.

Red face What do these wires do on my rear tailgate window. Pics Included

I took apart my rear tailgate apart to replace my window motor that all fixed but before i put back on the cover i want to know what these wires did hooked to the bottom right part of my tailgate window

anyways mine are sniped and the one part is all electrical taped together is this toyota factory work or the previous owner fix. but i can understand what the wires do that are attached to my window

heres pics

first you can see the wire that has been snipped

heres a shot of the wires and the electrical tape job to where it hits the window

and heres the shot where the wires meet the window

i still dont have the closest idea why wires would be connected to the window

please help so i finish my rear window job

Look at your second picture, it looks like the wires came loose or broke from that taped piece, thats what it looks like to me, but the picture is not real clear.

Ive had tint on rear windows of vehicles that had rear window defrost, and never had a problem with the tint melting or comming off, so im wondering if the wires just broke on there own from the window movement over the years of use ?.

The pictures are a little blurry to me but I agree with myyota as to why it is taped togher, age just made it fall off the tab it's supposed to be affixed to on the window. Tint is not a real good reason to disconnect the rear defrost, all my vechiles have tint (aftermarket or factory) & rear defrosters and they are all wired. Even if they don't all work 100%.

Rear defrost. Super common for the wires to snap there.

I had to fix that, and even with 12 volts of power the rear defrost doesnt work well at all. The switch gets hot after a few mins!!

Man, I wonder if mine are getting brittle...In ten years, I've used the defrost maybe five times. Good to know.

I have to park outside at work. So I guess I use mine 8-10 tes a month during the cold season. I must say I am way happier having it. More bc everything works, and now I can say everything works. Gosh that sounds good. Everthing works. another 4runner daydream......
