'95 4Runner mods I would do again....:

Listed in order of priority:
1. Downey HD coils approx 2" lift. Downey torsion bars.
2. Warn premium manual hubs.
3. Downey oversize air intake
4. Borla cat back exhaust
5. ARB bumper and Warn winch.
6. Siped BFG MT's in the 32" variety on 3 5/8ths backspaced wheels
7. Yakima roof rack/rocketbox or the 2006 equivalent
8. Centerforce dual friction clutch with heavier than stock Centerforce flywheel--assuming you have the manual transmission
9. Junk the sidesteps and get some decent sliders
10. Odyssey battery
11. ERPS rust prevention system (Australian Company)

Mods to avoid

1. Optima batteries
2. Anything made by Jacobs Electronics
3. Any non-OEM Toyota Factory bearing (pilot, throwout, etc, such as those made in China and included in the Downey HD clutch kit )
4. Flex-a-lite electric fan conversion--marginal gain if any and adds an enormous load to an already taxed charging system.

Any closer to getting that thing out of the garage?

If you draw them down hard--say winching a lot or running an electric fan, you will kill them quickly. I have had a redtop die in as little as a year and a yellow top in less than 18 months. The weak Toyota alternator doesn't help matters much. But I would definitely say get an Odyssey battery over the Optima if you are running big electrical loads.

Getting close on finishing up the 4Runner. Just finishing the half-exo.
The employment search is going OK. Nothing firm yet. Just enjoying some time off with family. Come Sept. or Oct. and I will start to get worried.

I went through 7 omni magnums before I called it quits. They covered each under warranty, but the shipping alone was killing me. Not to mention taking an hour to install each new one and a half hour to pull the fubared one out. They are junk. When they work they work great. But I would never compromise the reliability of a Toyota with their crap again.

This wouldn't include products from Marlin, would it?
