'92 V6 runner w/ G254 rear diff locker available? Powertrax? Aussie?
I did a search and this thread confused me a bit
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116/2nd-gen-lsd-diff-question-48045/
Here's the problem. I've got a '92 V6 runner and want to put either
a Powertrax NoSlip or Aussie locker in the rear, but every application
guide I've seen so far either skips years '90-'95 or says specifically
"not applicable to V6 models". The diff code is G254 which is
8" 4.55 ratio 4 pinion. I assume the 4 pinion part is why I
can't find a locker application that'll fit. It sure seems like
the person in the above thread had the same problem, but he
ended up with an Aussie locker and seems to be happy now.
What's the solution? New 2 pinion carrier or nothing?

ARB makes one that fits, and you dont loose street manners... I am pretty sure detroit makes one too.
4pinion is v6 rearend, 2 pinion is 4cyl rear end... you dont want to swap... plenty of people have lockers in their v6 rears.... just not those two...

Thanks for the info.
Problem is, my runner is neither a daily driver or a dedicated trail rig.
I use it to get myself and my R/C gliders up into the mountains (Glacier Ridge,
Glacier Peak, Jones Pass, Santa Fe Peak etc..) for various slope soaring
events (racing/combat/dynamic soaring) and to do some back country
exploring and medium crawling. Just looking for a little added confidence
while I'm out there. The other 320 days in the year it's parked. I can't
justify a $800 air locker + $200 compressor on a $4500 vehicle
over a $250-350 auto-locker.
Do I have any other options? I do want a locking diff rather than
limited slip. On-road manners aren't hugely important to me
other than I'd prefer it not be noisy or bound all the time. That's why the
Aussie and NoSlip appealed to me. The thread I linked above, implied
that the original poster found that he had a V6 4 pinion diff, but
somehow ended up with an Aussie locker.

The aussie is great bang for the buck. It does impact street manners, but not so much that your rig won't be drivable - or wear tires like a spool.
I don't know if they exclude the v6 setup, if so - not that big a deal to go to a 4cyl 3rd, worst case... Not optimal for a competition or serious rig, but probably (IMHO) a good setup for what you want to do.
