'92 4Runner 3.0L - Code 14 and Code 63
I have...had a great running '92 3.0 4Runner until this weekend. No check engine light but pulling SEL codes showed codes 14 and 63.
Symptoms are: poor starting unless vehicle sits overnight, always starts but if not left overnight I have to apply 1/2 throttle to help clean out additional fuel???, once started...frequent stumble until the engine is happy, and faint smell of fuel in the engine bay. Once the engine has cleaned itself out, it runs like a top. No power issues, no misfire issues, no tell tale signs of a failed head gasket (replaced about 40K miles ago).
Code 14 - no IGF signal to ECU - always has good spark so I don't feel I have a transient issue with the ignitor. I feel this may be an older or fantom code that is maskings an internal fuel leak causing a rich condition pronounced during start up.
Code 63 - 1-2 transmission solenoid - no issues here other then the code likely needs to be cleared. I thought I would include the code as someone may be able to provide more insight knowing that they both were stored.
As mentioned above, I believe that I have an injector or fuel pressure regulator failure / leak. What is the easiest / best way to monitor fuel pressure and verify that the system isn't leaking internally? I failed to see a schrader valve or port intended for this use. Other then my plan for verifying leak down, what should I expect to see for fuel pressure with out engine load at idle.
Thanks for your help. DuluthSVO
