3VZE Woes Revisited

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...ight=3vze+woes

Note my original posting above.
Well the results of my dry and wet compression test are back and I am going to need a new engine.

Dry Compression Test Wet Compression Test
Front of Engine Front of engine
85 125 95 140
110 10 125 35
0 70 0 80

That puts me in the market for a used 3VZE. I don't see much point in trying to rebuild a 3VZE with 274,000 miles on it. If you know of a good one in the Northeast, please contact me.

the cheapest rebuilt longblock Ive seen is 1800+500 core charge. You sure having the block punched, honed, decked, hot dipped, and the crank surfaces worked on and the replacing all internals isn't cheaper? (3vzfe uses a forged crank that will drop right into our 3vze from what ive been told)

I dont know as Ive not been down this road...yet. *gulp*

I was hoping for something of the salvage yard variety, dumping a large amount of $$ into an engine is not in the cards, however, neither is selling the 4runner for a couple hundred dolllars.

ZERO compression?!? Wow....never seen that before. You must have a valve stuck open.

How do you know you need a new engine and not just a head?

Yeah those are the worst compression numbers I've ever seen.

Yep, they aren't good.
The mechanic who did the compression tests told me that the double zero was likely caused by a burned piston. I don't know if he considered a stuck valve or not.

Screwed by DOA. We ought to form a help group or something.
I got boned by him too. What a crook.
