Those both sound like excellent ideas. If you do put them in, you can post in here if you like.
For the cage you could consider something like one that holds a lightbulb. Might be just the right size, with little fabbing just for one line.

The lines have pretty much no play, so it would be nice to have it like that.
When I finally had both lines braided in, I was slightly considering just leaving it like that because it was a tight fit and didn't really move at all..
Then I figured you guys would call me lazy if I didn't and just bolted it up jk.
