22re Rebuild questions.

RightON. The firstgens are fun to work on. I'm slowly building a 22re to replace the one in my 87 4Runner. My previous project was a 22r coming out of an 88 2wd that ran nice. After tearing it down, we found timing chain guides were broken and in the oil pan, and just the beginnings of grooves in the cover, the bottom end was tight and the cylinders and pistons were great. So, the head was checked, block cleaned, bearings examined, and we put everything back together. It went into a pretty decent 84 'Runner. the motor purrs like a kitten and gets abused every weekend. So have fun!! That little Whitey you have there will be a fun truck to play with! Just dont' put TOO much $$ into it LOL.

I always thought that .40 over was the limit on a 22re as well. I am just gonna rebuild this one and get the truck running so I can try and find out what else it needs to have repaired. I have the block that came out of it originally that I can bore and rebuild next. I hope to find another gen 1 that I can SAS if it doesn't already have one when I find it. I love these trucks.
ALso, if this motor really came from 22re.com like I was told, I wouldn't reccommend them to anyone, the claims don't match the merchandise.

LC will do .080 over turbo/stroked motors - as I said, not all castings make it.
I'd have someones @#$@ if they said that was a low mileage JDM motor. You paid a "core" price though.
Don't beat up the vendor (22re.com) unless he's the guy that sold it to you.
