22re with flowmaster super 10 CAB DRONE
Hey guys this is my first post here I recently swapped my stock exhaust system with a flowmaster super 10 with a single turn down right out the muffler. Two words. CAB DRONE. I got on the highway and when I reached my destination I was totally deaf. I heard that running the pipe past the rear axle would help. What else would help? Other than insulating the cab!

What was the reason for a Flowmaster? I just have my muffler shop to install the exhaust system to factory spec. I just had a new system from the "Y" pipe to behind the rear tire for $125 and does fine for me.

I like my trucks quiet. To me the only great sounding motor with custom exhaust is a V8. It just seems to me a 4 cylinder with about any other muffler on it sounds like a ticked off bumble bee. It is probably just me being behind the times or slow to change on different exhaust sounds.

I have a flowmaster installed on my truck from PO as well, it comes out right behind rear wheel. I don't notice it on the freeway or steady throttle. but accelerating down the street with my window down, it sounds like someone blowing a raspberry. It's pretty stupid. I bought a used stock exhaust system from someone, but I'm waiting to replace cat at the same time before putting it on.

You wanted loud
seems you got what you wanted .
4 cylinder engines sound pretty bad with loud exhaust.
Ear plugs work well!!!
I like my vehicles quiet I pretty much use Walker Exhaust on every thing .
Loud vehicles draw the attention of law enforcement more so after a night out nursing a hang over.
Getting the exhaust out from under the vehicle is a big help along with a tail pipe
It is not like a loud exhaust gives any performance on a 22re although they do seem to give headaches

I have a similar problem in my '86 4Runner. Luckily, I only drive it 2-4 times a month and usually just local. Mine isn't particularly loud but it does still drone. .....and the exhaust goes all the way to the back.
I agree with the others in regard to sound. One of these days I'm going to have a shop replace the muffler with something on par with stock. The 22RE is not what I would call an engine that produces an appealing exhaust note. .....got my Challenger and Charger for that. The one 4 cyl car I had that was an exception was my '03 WRX. With the Prodrive exhaust and the stock unequal length headers it had a neat, deep, mellow burble-like tone.
You're not likely to easily get rid of the drone short of replacing the muffler.
