Myself, I would go with the cheaper motor if rebuilt correctly. Which cylinders are not firing? Is it on the fuel side or the firing side? I would suspect the fuel side since the firing/electrical side is pretty easy to check.

Injectors 1/3 and Injectors 2/4 share the same Pin and wiring. 86 has a different way of getting the codes from what the 87 and newer does. In my link below, on the 88 runner build I show that information on where to find it on the first page and also on non firing injectors and what to look for.

Welcome to Yotatech.

Thank you Terry, Neighbor (I am in O Fallon, Mo)

Funny enouhg it is 2 and three which are not getting fuel but are getting spark. Since it appears those cylinders are not bundled together it seems a little strange but the wiring will tell the story I suppose.

Thank you for the the links, I will explore them

no first post in this thread?

all of the injector wiring is bundled together into one common point in the harness, toyota altered it after the fact using crimps, it's different from what the schematic shows.

those crimp points are where the wiring corrodes... in the end, you've got one hot wire and one ground wire for all injectors, which actually makes sense, because this is almost certainly a primitive batch-fired injection system.

I had to move this post to the correct location and somehow Post 1 did not make it over. If I recall right the original poster has two cylinders not firing.

Like osv mentioned the crimps is a poor design in the harness. Make sure they are in good working order. Just because they will pass a resistance check does not mean enough voltage can get thru and fire the injector.

Have you ran some fuel cleaner thru your tank? I have seen that cause some clogged injectors in the past. You could try moving the injectors to different cylinders and see if the problem moves or stays with the injector but would be a lot of work.

I would remove the crimps and solder the wires together. If that did not fix it then I would pull the injectors and have them checked. You can do your own test with a 9volt battery and I think I have that in one of my threads some where. I use a syringe and injector cleaner with a rubber hose on the in put side of the injector and energize the injector for 1 second intervals. You can also stick the rubber hose over the exit side of the injector and back flush them with 1 second intervals. That will let you know if your injector is good.

Not may Missouri guys on here and most are up in your area. Welcome to Yotatech.

Turns out the injector clips are toast and the negative wires were not making contact with the injector pins on #2 & #3. The beast fired up on all 4 but smokes a bit and has some top end clatter so it is going to come out.

I am going to start a new thread here on the truck in the build section so everything can get placed in one thread and a bit more easily understood

1994 Toyota pickup 22re. Bought with engine in a million pieces and no labeling. Anyone know what wire goes to what injector?

did you read the thread? since all injectors are fired all at once, fit 'em by length, the actual connection doesn't matter.
