16 instead of 15 rims and tires on 1st gen How much power loss
I've been looking at tires and realized there are a lot more options in the 16's. I want a 30 inch tire but don't want the "fat" tire. Preferably a 9 to 9.5. Just wondering the people who did this with the 22re if the performance suffered. Building engine now with rv head 268 cam, lce header, 2 1/4 exhaust. Hopefully that will make up for some of the power loss if I do the switch. Would really like dura tracs but they don't make the size I want in 15.

None if you keep the same relative size tire. You should be able to convert your ideal tire size into metric and adjust for the larger rim size, giving you a smaller side wall, while keeping the same total diameter. Shouldn't be able to notice the difference in terms of a gear ratio change. Unless im missing something in your question?

I would like a 30 inch. 245/75 or a 30 9.5. It's The duratrac that i would like and they don't make either size in a 15. I'm trying to stay with a skinnier tire for use in mud and snow. The truck will also see a lot of highway use. Had 31 10.5 on my 87 truck and when hunting in Idaho it was like have a set of skis in the snow and slimy mud.
