little more "pimping" the product
12' alum. on the ol' white knight .. this truck was abused for 12 years untill the frame finally gave way .. (owned 1982 till 1994)
/80 4x4 on 36 superswampers , ARB's front and rear with 5:29's , and 150RWHP hi-brid 20/22r
2005 , I'm at ~ 4800 GVW combined .. fully loaded .. stock gears , 31's 22RE .
running up the switch backs on the mountian I had to run in 2nd gear .. but hey , like all other campers , I was in no hurry . on the flats and gravel , not a problem .. I believe the key to success in towing , is excellent brakes and cooling system .. and I always keep both of those in top notch condition . thats a 14' alum. boat fellas , and thats the same truck I'm drivin today
BOTH trucks are our fiberglass beds fully loaded with camp gear , boats and motors

Slacker...this is why I couldn't go with one of your beds. I have a topper on my truck and need a US spec bed to rest the topper on top of. I would have nowhere to bolt the topper down on a Canadian/japan spec truck. Just out of curiosity, have you made a mold yet for the 84-95 US spec truck bed with the wide bed rails. My 88 is becoming too restored to take it hunting anymore and I have a 91 that will be filling this role soon. The bed is in ok condition, but I want a fiberglass bed and would not mind putting one of yours on.
Noticed a customer pic on your site that shows a US truck with the correct bed (upper edge is flat like a 4Runner).
Now the question; Did this guy use 4Runner quarter panels and cut off the front portion to make a pickup bed???

Found some better pic's on the net (yeah, I know, search noob).
Slacker, please take this as a constructive suggestion, not criticism.
Would seem like the 4Runner quarter panel would work as a US bed side if the top 45 degree edge was extended the whole length of the panel.
I wasn't aware that the 4Runner had the hump (circled in red). Seems like if you eliminated that hump and ran the 45 edge all the way to the back and wrapped it around the rear corner it would be perfect for US trucks.

That was a "custom" bed we made for this customer ... he was an American whom had just moved to Canada , and wanted to replace his rotted bed . Unfortunatly , I never got the original bed back then, as he ordered it before he moved here , and i never had a chance to get it .
the good news is .. I found a USA style bed .. we're building moulds .. FINALLY
havent got it yet , but it's a for sure .. keep an eye out in the vendors section , as this is where we post ALL of the new stuff

Awesome!
Yes, finding a decent bed in the east cost can be a PITA! My truck's bed was rotted out at the seems and I looked everywhere for a replacement. I lucked out and found one at a Toyota wrecking yard. The owner, however, did not want to let it go. It took a bit of motivation to make him sell. It wasn't as good as the one in OP's pic but I was happy with it at the time. 3-4 years have passed and rust is showing its ugly face again. Now, I'm just saving up for one of Slacker's fiberglass beds.

Here is a picture of my fiberglass bed, notice the outline of the top rail section and then I put a line to show the width. The width on this bed is 2". I really needed 2 1/2" as that is the standard top bed rail mounting surface.
I put this bed on my 88 but it's getting to nice to take to my cabin in the woods any more. I have a 91 that I have for this purpose now and in the future will need a new bed. I have a fiberglass topper that looks mostly like the one on my 88. If you look through the back window, you can see the topper to bed mounting surface. See below.
If you could make the top rail 2 1/2 in width, that would make it so toppers can fit with no problem...and have an edge up on the competition that has overlooked this small detail, but one with big implications.

By the way, this bed:
just sold for $1,500. It was in Western Maryland, and the guy was on the fence with my offer of $1,000 when somebody else came in and paid what he was asking in cash.
Posting this so all of you SW US bastages will know how lucky you are to be able find steel beds in great shape for $500 or less.

I would personally do steel I like being able to use those outside tie downs. If I didn't care about tying down and having the steel bed I probably would just flatbed it if I worried about price.

That fiberglass bed looks nice Corey. I wish the bed and sidewalls WOULD look like that when you were done. I've noticed that none of the fiberglass beds have the same floor as stock.
Why do you go that route? Also, my inner side panels are fine. Would you consider a bed with no inner panels, just the place to mount the originals?

Thanks .. these moulds are going to be perfect .. lazer straight , better then stock .
reason we dont do the extruded floor like stock , is strictly cost and weight .
we build our beds to reflect the exact weight of the stock bed so things like springs and shocks work like they should . we could do a "top skin" of the floor , but it would just cost more . inner walls are the same .. our inner walls just add to the strength and regidity to our bed .. there is NO question it is an excellent option and we wont build them with out

Thanks Corey. Now I'm torn... get a fiberglass bed now, or wait for the 4 door cab...
I'll probably wait, make my bed work for now, and start saving for the 4 door cab, as I'll have to cut my bed up when I get that baby.

From the same thread you replied in, Senor Duke:

Four door cab, double cab. whatever you want to call it, but THAT is my dream toyota pickup. 84 4-door P/U.
It's not available yet, but I figure it will be by the time I get the money saved up.
