Need to smog my 4Runner
Is there another name for an "air diverter valve"? I have rebuilt the carb, and replaced what seems to be the original cat. I just need to know where the diverter valve is located. I searched the FSM, and posts here on the site, and can't find anything.

The diverter valve is part of the air pump assembly (not physically). I had to buy one for my 79 chevy way back when, mounted on the back of the air pump. Little cheesy valve wasnt cheap either, cost me 250 bucks. But yeah, where is it supposed to be on the truck. Did you get failed for it already?

yeah, got failed for it. I think it is the valve which re-routes air (or unburned exhaust) back thru the system. I've heard that it is located in or around the air cleaner...

Thats why I got away from that engine. What it did on my other truck was balance the amount of air to either manifold. Im not even sure those engines have one. Have you checked toyodiy.
