Knocking in an 85 pickup 22r. . .
I got a 85 toy pickup back in 03 from a neighbor for $1700, I was it third owner but the first owner drove it off the lot and didn't like it so he sold it to the guy i got it from around 20 miles. I got the truck around 190k-ish. It went though a rebuld back in 07 (i think) from a rolled bearing and its now at 257520. While talking to my next door neighbor he reminded me that he told me to go get the valves adjusted and I do not think I did that. Long of the short this is the list of troubles I had leading up to the knocking.
Anti-freeze mixing with oil, replaced head gasket. Oil leak, cracked timing plate. Still had troubles with oil and anti-freeze mixing and oil pain leaking from timing cover in front. The knocking does sound like it is upper engine.
Perhaps it is a valve adjustment and maybe a warped head? Or is there more hidden within that I'll need to go look into also? I really want to get this truck running once more.
Many thanks in advance.

If I did not mill the head, and it overheated Is that a way for the oil/anti-freeze to intermix? As with maybe force exhaust into the anti-freeze? Or once at temp force anti-freeze into the combustion chamber?
I really do not want to shell out $1500 to get this engine rebuilt if its something that I can do myself with my Dad's help. If its as simply as Mill the head, replace the head-gasket and adjust the values then that is great.
Any advice would be grateful, Or should I go ahead and bite the bullet and take it down to the local yota shop and have them take a look at it?
