difficulty of installing a 22re

I had a 22r in my 85 p/u its seems its going to be easier to find a new 22re for it so I was wondering just how difficult it is to wire everything up with the computer or if I should just try and find a 22r.

Should be really easy, if you get a complete 22re, harness, and computer. Plenty of people around here have done it and can help you out.

It is real easy to wire up. All you need is the complete harness, injectors and matching computer. Make sure that the computer can run your injectors 83 toyota injectors to 87 are a differnt ohm, 88 are unique to that year and 89+ are differnet. Some year injectors are not interchangeable and will not plug into the inector rail.
All you need for the swap to EFI

-Intake (fuel rail to MAS)
-Computer and Harness

The head is the same on the 2 motors the swap is easy and would take a half a day.

-Jon
FYI I have extra EFI intake parts if you might need something.

I have 2 extra 22RE but they need rebuilt. What is wrong with your block? Is your head messed up? I do have 2 extra intakes for the 22RE minus the injectors. I could probibly find a dgood 22R block and head nearby starting @ $400 for the block and up from there....
I think Jessie was telling me about your truck issues the other day.

well it did then I was up at the trail in sherills ford "disneyland" made it through and it started to sound horrible. I was coming back and I really was starting to doubt I was gona make it. Had to stop on the trail bc it was overheating. then I had the doors off so I heard the pop and saw the flame and that was all she had. Soooo I rented a trailer and took it on the trails there and retrieved my truck. Right now though im down at school and my truck is back at a buddy's house back home. Unless I find a great deal worthy of a special trip home I may just wait about a month or so when Im gona be home for long enough to put the engine in and get other issues(brakes) fixed.

I started wheeling those trails in 1990 and uh never knew they were called Disneyland..........
I like the "Graveyard trail" better!!!!!!
Due to the hidden lost grave of Miss Sherrill, it's still there.

I left my truck there for a couple days and was worried but no one messed with it. Was pretty fun getting the trailer both up the hill then turning it around and getting the truck up on the trailer. I cut to sharp coming out on the hill to the road and got hung on the tree. I was givin it hell in 4lo reverse to get off the tree. Jessie went with me it was pretty awesome. Just dont tell the uhaul people.

Man that trail will change whenever. I have seen Isuzu Amigos on 29s make it. You should have no problem with 31s if you pick a hairy line and floor it.
Last time I went I was in front wheel drive in my 3rd gen on 33s and open front cause I broke my D shaft. My brother has no front d shaft and 34s. That pick is the 1st hole. the Jeep is in the last hole trying to skirt around.
The trail goes into Lake Norman. We camped that night and the next day a boat came up to us at shore and said that he has no idea how we made it down the trail. He said he had a hummer h1 and spent the night winching out of hole 4 (the big one I think). You can make it if you don't mind scratches.

Yeah I got through one tire hi side but not both tires in the ruts. Jesse made it in the camo runner on 35's. Saw a taco on 32 12.50 bfg muds get stuck and have to winch out. Other then that i wheel with too many cautious people. I was hittin stuff in the 85 fast as hell. I think the water gettin in it was part of what killed it. I made it through the lake once but kinda want a snorkel b4 I try it again.

Back on Topic, I guess for the motor try Bruce at Toyota Foolish in Barnardsville, NC (Western NC, near Asheville) Phone (828) 626-3227
He has alot of toyota stuff and is reasonable.
He could hook you up with the block and head if you need it. I have an extra intake or 2 if you want to swap your truck to fuel injection.

Power Line trails are getting short due to all the construction
If you take a right (1st set of power lines off that road right past the mini storage) next to the guys farm, that trail goes back to the service roads and ash mounds from DP. be careful if you decide to go down there they patrol and also the mud fields look fun but you better have sombody to winch you out or winch to b/c there are no trees around in the 1000x1000 yard mud fields.

some guys on nc4x4.com made some trails out in Lincolnton havnt been there but a friend has. other than that Richlands off 321 on the way to boone, westbowl on beach mtn. Callienta (sp?) in tenn, and of course tellico and uwharrie
