change your head gasket, soon! Compression pressure is much higher than the cooling system. It may go one way but not the other. It's only a matter of time before coolant will fill your cylinders. I've seen this 4 times now. It usually happens with jobber head gaskets at around 25000 miles after a rebuild or replacing a gasket in my experience. It's also usually cyl# 4 that hydraulics first. I recommend using a new gasket from Toyota only. There is a difference! I happen to be doing one today with the same problem.

If water is gushing out of your radiator, maybe you need a new radiator cap?

take the T-stat out and see if that helps, it might be stuck closed

Dude if water is coming out of the radiator then why did you replace the head gasket? Was it leaking out of the head gasket? Did you do a compression test to see if the head gasket was indeed the culprit? If the radiator is obviously the problem with coolant squirting out and all wouldn't you think the radiator would be the first thing to address? Where is the coolant coming from on the radiator? cap? seem? fins? hoses? Maybe i missed some thing but why did you replace the head gasket in hopes it would fix the leaking radiator? As your water pump turns when you crank the motor upon start up it moves coolant through the passages in you block and hoses so with each crank the coolant should or will be forced through your hole aka leak. Good luck man but the problem just might be squirting you in the face.

Cool

the radiator is new as is the thermastat.
differant head

I thought I might have bunged the HG job when I did it the first time

the water is coming out the filler neck where you put the cap like a gyeser
waa hoo old face full and isn't hot
Its on start up I should have typed that erlyer
I think I cracked the block

found a 22r on that CL place
so now comes the rip and build
take parts off that engine and put on this one
its out of a 84 4X4 so it will fit right in NP
now I get to clean and paint my engine compartment and front diff
fun fun good thing I got a power washer

Type back soon with pics

if you're starting cold, you should get no gushing. the t-stat should be closed and the coolant in the radiator shouldn't even be in the circuit.

once the t-stat opens, you get flow to the rad from the top hose, and out to the pump thru the bottom hose.

so i'd want to know if the radiator was flowing freely, and then i'd want to know why the t-stat was open right from start up.

good luck man.

thanks for the help

I still think I cracked the block

As far as the rad cap why would that be the problem if I dont have it on and water is pumping out of the rad

could be the head but I changed the head the problem is still there
and the T-stat is being pushed open by the water presure
thx for the help
