...and finally starting to wrench on the runner. got the dash out, pulling the harness off the firewall. still not sure how im going to wire the rear power accessories for the runner, that the diesel dash doesnt have. probably save that for last.

mostly going for "super stock", nothing too crazy. still wanna keep it as a DD. still wanna add some lift, a KTT soft top, cross over high steer and try to squeeze some more power from the 2LT.

..a state trooper i knew from work (my shop had the contract to work on police cars) he bought a house and yota came with it to plow the long driveway. one owner with only 95,xxx on the dash, mostly only used as a snow plow. very rigged up truck, not road worthy. over 3 years i nudged im to sell it to me.
......got the whole rig for ....$500

so tonight i pulled the radiator, seeing how custom i have i have to get to use the nice newer one from the 22re. also ran the diesels dash harness into the runner, its kinda a pta. not fun snaking all those wires through 2.5" holes. but most of the connecters plugged in so i was happy. so far just the rear light and hvac plugs seem different.
long nights tying to do it in a timely manner..

Nice rig!!! Cant wait to see it done.
The 2lt is a great motor, I think that they had some head gasket issues on certain years, so you may want to check on that.

Some of the common mods are 3in exhaust, bigger exhaust elbow, 3in air piping.
Good luck

Just came across this forum to see if by chance anybody was doing something similar to what I want to do. Low and behold you are build exactly what I want to build. The only thing different is my 4runner is an 87 and my 85 2l-t is a two wheel drive version. I am curious to know what model transmission you have, better yet a vin number so I had something to research at the Toyota dealership. My understanding is that the oil pan is different between a 2wd and 4wd. I plan on swapping a straight axle in" which I have already... This is a awesome.

i have the 4wd 2L-T, iv seen a pic of the oil pans somewhere on the forums and they are different. i wanted to put a newer oil pan on it but didnt want to spend all the money upfront. i figured i can always take her apart again someday to make this rig proper, for now its just got to run.

so after over a week or so finally got back to work on the runner. the time i have on the lift is very limited so i had to raise the body and switch the motors in one nite.. man i was tired.
out with the old..
that plate was cleaner then i thought.

i did end up fitting the diesel motor in and lowering the body back down on the frame. the lighting in the shop in crumby in that spot so i didnt bother taking a pic, and i was ready to fall asleep. took a day off from it, ill be back on it tomorrow.
