Got my parts in yesterday, stupid ups lady just slammed it on my porch. Got them on last night, it wasnt too bad, took about 3 hours cause i was alone doing it. The mrs. showed up about 2 hours into it, gave me a hand. the ride is soooo much better now. Well, got some poser pics for ya'll. I posted a pic last night in one of my other threads, only because i worked all day, then came home and did it in 110 degree heat, and i was just to tired to mess with new posting.

well, time to head back to work. but a question first. Does anyone have any recomendations or preference on shocks to handle the 3 inch? for instance, what shock do you run and why do you like them over previous shocks you have used.

Honestly, with those springs, and the fact that you already said it rides better even without shocks, I don't think you will really notice the difference between a good shock and a slightly better shock. I think you'd be best off just getting some procomp es3000s. I used these on the rear of my 89 4runner with 63" chevy springs, and they were just fine, and only $40 per shock. What's really important is that you get the correct size. You want to have at least 1" of extra travel on either end to account for ectreme cases, like a jump, or a fall off a ledge.

Nah, didnt move it at all, thats why I wanted to do just a three, it doesnt change much of the geometry. It rides better in the sense that my kidneys arent killing me. The front springs had absolutely, positively no movement left, if you pushed down on the fender, the only thing absorbing the impact was the tire. Its bouncy as sin right now, thats why i want a good shock. I actually ordered my shocks tonight from work, got the rancho 9000xl's. think i will give them a try. I have always ran the rs5000's and just figured i would step up and give them a shot. Hell, i was even able to use my employee discount on them. I did tell myself i was going to keep this truck, and do it right.

rdrttoy- Pretty difficult to adjust? My previous bike was a 2002 YZF600R, tons of suspension adjustment had to made to accomodate my weight, i.e.- compression damp., rebound damp., spring firmness, Its not that difficult right?

Hey this may kind of sound like a dumb question but i don't want to order the wrong thing but will a basic 3" suspension lift that is for a 85 pickup work for a 85 4runner?

i see no reason it wouldnt. Just go to 4wheelparts and check for the 4runner, then check the 84 pickup, compare the part numbers. Now bear in mind, i wanted to go with OME, but i needed the springs quick. Thats why i ordered these, I expected the worst just because of the reviews on them. I can honestly say though, that i am happy with them, they arent bad at all. nice and smooth, paired with these ranchos they are great. But, i should have went with the 4 inch ranchos. when i am at full droop its literaly a half inch from full extension of the shock. A little close for my liking.
