22RE running rich

My 22re needs to be timed and the air fuel mixture fixed. If my truck it idleing it smells just like a weedeater and it also burnign your eyes. The motor has 165K on it.

plugs/wires/cap/rotor/o2 sensor/afm could be a lot of things

Definately check out the o2 sensor, the 22re's rely alot on the 02 sensor for air/fuel mixture levels I had the same problem and couldn't pass smog and in the end all it was was the o2 sensor

If the o2 sensor was bad would it make it burn more fuel?

I just got done timming the motor and improved it alot. I still might change the O2 sensor just in case.

Yeah, replace the O2 sensor. A rich fuel mixture will fry 'em.

Get a Denso O2 sensor from sparkplugs.com. It's a factory Toyota part that cost a fraction than the dealer.
