Paint job ideas

I am about to paint my truck and thinking between two different jobs.

1st- Paint it back dark blue

2nd- Paint it black and put a big lime green monster energy decal on the doors.

I am open to opinions so let me know.

What I'm starting with...

the decal

Well, do you want your truck to be a driving billboard? I sure hope monster is hooking your some coin for that kind of promotion...

Flat colors are fairly popular with many members on this site. Choosing to go with a flat color eliminates a lot of the need to do body work.

Ha, I'm good. That monster thing was one of my buddies ideas, I'm not crazy about it. I like it blue, but I can't find the right shade that I'm looking for. I want like a deep dark blue, something like a midnight blue.

Monster symbols...mmhmm, not too hot, but if you do, you should deff contact them, and tell them to spilt half of their growing profits in your area with you.

Although my truck is of a newer year, i classify my color as midnight blue.
Just to give you an idea:

no on the sticker, unless they're paying you, but maybe a bed liner blue on the bottom with silver? There's a truck running around my town like that(maybe opposite) and it looks good IMO. I think he's on here actually now that I think about it

Go to any paint supple store(auto) and they can custom blend a color for you for the same price as buying a quart or whatever size you go with pre mixed paint

mine is dark blue... i like the color a lot. unfortunately it has to be redone soon.

the stock dark blue that came on 99-98 chevy trucks and suburbans is a nice midnight blue color.

The dark blue used on Subie Outback wagons is very deep and dark... thinking of using it myself when I add my flares...

Repainting

I think that blue is good, but it depends on whether you want acrylic enamel or basecoat clearcoat paint. I am guessing your truck was A/E. When I got my 88 X-cab it was spray painted all over and I bought single stage acrylic enamel with the factory light blue metallic 8D8 paint code. (The paint code is on the back firewall of the engine compartment on mine.) While I was sanding I found basecoat clearcoat under the plastic stone guards in front of the rear wheels. The truck is now painted and it is an odd smokey blue metallic, from some angles like this tailgate shot it looks flat light blue. Not the factory color look I was going for but Oh well..

My 1981 Subaru GL 1800 Dual Range 4WD Wagon was a lovely medium blue high metallic. It had dealer alloys on it and an outback style grille guard- still the nicest Subaru I have ever seen-- If I had it to do with single stage paint again I would use that color. Non of the Toyota dark blues really thrill me.

For base clear the Late 80's Chevrolet dark blue is almost midnight. It is darker then the late 90's chevy blue.

Please don't paint it flat. It is so I don't want to take the time to do a good Job looking.

Those black steelies are gone... as soon as I can replace them! Going with 31X10.5X15 on the next hides and either factory chrome steelies or factory alloys, their is one type of aftermarket aluminum alloy I like to with the round holes in them.
