New chromoly birf install question

I am installing new chromoly birfs on my '83. I got the old ones apart by using the pipe slam method. There was both an inner and outer clip holding the drive shaft in the birf. When I install the new birfs is the inner clip necessary? Will the drive shaft move back and forth too much without it? It looks impossible to install the inner clip. I have and aussie locker in the third member if that helps.

I martacked my axle. It will make it easier to take apart if something breaks. I read on pirate that alot of people do fine without doing anything but decided I'd martack anyway.
