My 82 toyota Long Bed SR5

Well i purchased this 82 LB on Dec 25 2010. This is her the day i got it dirty with a broken grill.$755 on DMV fees which i could not get around because it came from a lien Sale. With all the thing it need s fixing and the late fee im looking at around $3500 that includes purchase price fees New grill, new seats , trans rebuild, tires and wheel and few other things. i almost thought of selling her or parting it out since im low on $ funds but i'm a Toyota lover and just couldn't do it My plans are to put her back on the road with some minor mods as i like the way they look original.
Maybe
new rims and tires which i bought
3" or so lift
New paint and replica decals
Locker
headers

and some surface rust

Dirty interior

Nice work man! You're really making some progress towards cleaning that rig up. Keep up the work and make sure you show us the pics along the way.

Well i stopped by a smog station had it smoged and went to dmv to finish the registration process. They gave me new plates(white) i was hoping to keep the original old school ones. I guess as long as i get to drive it it doesn't matter i hoping to get a saturday off so i can go for a little test drive at Azusa Canyon.

I also changed the timing chain. I thought it had a double roller but it turned out to be a single. So i decided to go with the steel guides kit. I cracked the oil pump during install so i had to buy a new one, just one less thing to worry about in the future.

Looks good. At least your dash isn't cut for an aftermarket radio, mine is butchered.

Nope, NONE in the Trans Dept., dangit! lol. I've been really lucky, with over 30 Vehicles in my life, I've NEVER had a trans fail on me, lol. Is yours doing anything in particular?

it makes a grinding noise on all gears except for fourth i guess is because it sat for about 3 years(PO) but i have a friend who will rebuild it for $150 + parts about $350 i think. i will take it down and install it he will just do the rebuild. I think i will change the clutch in the process even thought it still runs strong. By the way that's a very clean 4rnr you got. I saw a white one in about the same condition being parted out at Pick ur part Stanton. I would never junk a truck like that even in the worst condition.

Thanks, man! And hey, I'm not even done yet! lol. Yeah, ....hmmm, Stanton? I saw a fairly clean white TURBO RUNNER, at Wilmington, CA Pick-u-Part, ..... HG, THAT WAS IT! Turbo was still good, etc. A guy was raping it while I took the horn, some relays and a couple other things I needed.....then I helped him get the head off, ..he had no clue was he was doing, lol(been there, done that, haha) And hey, he's TRYING, RIGHT?

Well, sounds like a Chunky Trans to me, yeah. I've heard plenty of rear ends that SLUSHHHHHHGRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD away, perpetually, too. I'm sure you KNOW it's the trans, so please don't think I'm second guessin ya, lol. Just curious how the rest of your drivetrain is, considering it's been sitting for years.

it seems like everything else is good except for my brakes it's braking more in the back i'm thinking of upgrading to V6 calipers, FJ60 rotors and v6 booster more braking power i think from what i've been told in another thread, v6 stuff are easy to find i may have to buy new fj60 rotors. also looking to convert to power steering let me know if you come across any pre 85 power steering box. i was offered a complete set up for $250 think is a fair price?

Like seeing what you have been doing so far. Those first gens really look nice. I plan on finding me one to do when I finsh the build I am currently on. One of my friends is restoring an 82. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing it when finished.

if you ever decide to get rid of that radio, let me know. I'm seeking a period correct or factory unit for my truck.
