to many amps

Has anyone ever had major electrical issues, after jump starting from a dodge diesel? My 79 pick up wouldnt start one day, battery seemed dead. I jumped it from my dodge, the ammeter fried and so did the emmissions controller, I've had to bypass the controller just to get it to idle but the charge light is on at idle. Any body have this problem before?

It's a well known fact that Toy's hate Mopar! Ha. Just kidding, wonder how many amps the diesel is working with? It seems like you might have sent too many amps through your toy's old fairly mild electrical grid. Probably happened just as you connected, before the overall resistance could take the extra load. You could pull apart your controller and check for any fried components on the board. It will likely be the first capacitor in the pathway. Look for strange looking solder joints as well. Sometimes a $2 Radio Shack part can be swapped to fix it.

Wink

Something does not sound right.

I have used the same vehicle to do the same thing with no problems.

Did you have these problems before?? What caused your battery to go dead??

If you had the vehicles touching or had the cables reversed or put the negative cable on first.

Causing a big arc on the positive cable.

That could fry things

I think the something was already starting to go in the controller the truck never really seemed to have a lot of power and would not rev up quick. After this all happened I ran power to the fuel cut off solenoid and the fuel pump and the truck runs better than ever.
